Guangzhou's Nansha coastal walk: A 5-kilometer route with six scenic stops
Update: 2025-09-18     Source: South

Guangzhou's Nansha District has opened a new five-kilometer waterfront walkway, connecting six distinctive scenic and cultural points along the coast. Accessible via Guangzhou Metro Line 4 (Nansha Passenger Port Station), the path begins near Nansha Tianhou Palace and offers a blend of natural views, leisure spaces, and photo opportunities.

1. Tianhou Palace Beach

The walk starts at Tianhou Palace Beach, known for its expansive views of the sea and soft sand. It is a popular spot for leisurely strolls. Visitors often wear traditional danjia hats (fishing community attire) while enjoying the sea breeze and watching distant boats.

2. Elevated Boardwalk

After the beach, the route leads to an elevated boardwalk shaded by large banyan trees, forming a natural green tunnel. The clean and shaded path provides cool shelter and views of the ocean, making it perfect for a relaxing walk.

3. "Nansha Blue" Photo Wall

Further along the path, a modern pixel-art mural displays the words "NAN SHA" in blue, reflecting the color of the nearby water. The wall serves as a popular photo spot for groups and friends.

4. Puzhou Garden Beach and Watchtower

This section features expansive sandy areas and a distinctive white watchtower with a spiral staircase. Climbing the tower offers panoramic views of the beach, sea, and passing ships. Its unique design against the blue ocean makes it a favorite for photography.

5. Puzhou Fishing Port

The revitalized Puzhou Fishing Port incorporates cultural elements such as colorful wall paintings, lanterns, and a "Rainbow Road."

6. Nansha Grand Hotel Section

The final segment passes near the Nansha Grand Hotel, offering distant views of the Humen Bridge. The path here is lined with trees on one side and sparkling water on the other, with sunlight filtering through the leaves. Plans include adding a seaside relaxation zone where visitors can enjoy coffee, socialize, and take in the scenery.

The walkway, comprising dedicated cycling and walking paths, is now fully connected. Clear markings and landscape buffers separate zones for walking, cycling, recreation, and photo-taking, ensuring a smooth and accessible coastal route for all residents.
