In 2005, Guangdong Provincial Education Department signed agreements with Hong Kong Education Bureau and Macao Education and Youth Bureau, launching the "Guangdong Hong Kong Macao sister school conclusion plan."
The plan has become the largest and most widely involved inter-school exchange project in the field of primary education in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and a key construction platform for the communication and cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao youngsters.
Guangzhou has been deeply involved in the plan since its launch. Up to now, 279 schools (parks) in Guangzhou have been paired with schools in Hong Kong and Macao, among which 34 with Macao schools, covering primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, and secondary vocational education.
Affected by the global epidemic, the exchange of visits between sister schools in Guangzhou and Macao has been suspended. Still, the two sides continue to communicate through networks, telephone, and online activities.
