Operated by the Air Tanzania, a direct flight was launched on May 8th linking China's Guangzhou and Tanzania's Dar es Salaam. It is also the first international passenger route opened at Baiyun International Airport in 2021.

The flight is operated with Boeing 787-800 planes with 240 seats in economy class and 22 seats in business class.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be one fight every two weeks. Scheduled every other Saturday, the flight TC402 leaves Tanzania's Dar es Salaam at 5 a.m. and arrives at Guangzhou's Baiyun International Airport at 9 p.m. local time. And the return flight TC403 leaves Guangzhou at 11 p.m. and arrives at Dar es Salaam at 5 a.m. of the next day.
According to Ladislaus Matindi, Managing Director and CEO of Air Tanzania: "We are very happy to open a direct flight to Guangzhou, it is one of the three major aviation hubs in China."
With the opening of a direct flight between Dar es Salaam and Guangzhou, Air Tanzania is looking forward to enhancing the close partnership between Tanzania and China, and it shows a milestone in the development of Tanzania-China relations under the Belt and Road Initiative.
