A new water bus route featuring Cantonese culture was launched in Guangzhou on July 19, inviting tourists to enjoy the beautiful Pearl River scenery and the Xiangsheng or 'crosstalk' performances.
The crosstalk performances will be mainly in Cantonese with other languages as supplementary, and staged at 6:30pm on the afternoon of Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and festivals. In addition to the 30-minute performances, visitors will also be able to tour the river for another 60 minutes. Extra performances can be arranged at 11:00am and 3:30pm according to tourist demands.

The new water bus route, operated by Guangzhou Public Transport Group Liner Co., Ltd., was co-launched by Huang Junying Art Gallery. Huang Junying is a comedian known for pioneering and promoter of Cantonese crosstalk. It was him who introduced xiangsheng to Guangdong. A master of the Cantonese language, Huang has created and starred over one hundred crosstalk performances during his 69-year career.
