To facilitate tourists during the coming May Day Holiday, Guangzhou Metro has rolled out in-app purchases of electronic one-day and three-day passes. The two types of e-tickets are priced at 20 yuan and 50 yuan respectively, of which the valid time is reckoned from the moment they are being activated.
The day passes can be used by one person for multiple times in the city's metro network within the valid term, but not applicable for tram lines or inter-city railway service. While tourists are able to activate another pass only when the last one is expired, for the locals, the day passes are not permitted to be used simultaneously with the in-app QR code working as a regular payment method.
Guangzhou Metro also allows tourists to refund inactivated electronic day passes within 30 days since they have bought them. And tourists can also wait for the system to refund automatically if 30 days have passed.
Besides, Guangzhou residents can now use their integrated transit card (Lingnan Pass & Octopus) to take subways and buses in 327 cities on the Chinese mainland as well as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The city list can be found in the official WeChat account of "交通联合官方服务号"(ID: ChinaT-union1).
