Guangzhou Metro to extend service hours for upcoming holidays

This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday combined will last for eight days. According to Guangzhou Metro,the operation time of its entire network will be extended by one hour on September 28, 29, and October 1, with the service of some lines to be extended from October 4 to 6. 

On September 29 and 30, the service of Line 2 (Jiahewanggang to Guangzhou South Railway Station) will operate 30 minutes earlier.

Guangzhou Metro is expected to see a peak passenger number of more than 11 million people on September 28. Some lines will enter the evening peak earlier, of which the evening peak starting time of lines 1, 2, 3 (the north extension included), 4, 5, 6, 8, 14, and the Guangfo line will be earlier to about 14:00. The fast trains on Line 14 from 12:00 to 21:30 will be converted to regular trains. 

On September 29, which is the Mid-Autumn Festival, the passenger flow is expected to be about 9.5 million. There will be an average daily passenger flow of about 8.6 million from September 29 to October 6. About 33 trains will be arranged as standby for the entire network. 

Adjustments will also be made to the timings of fast and regular trains on Lines 14 and 21, with Line 14 changing from fast to regular trains from 10:12 to 22:00 on September 29, and from 13:01 to 22:00 from September 30 to October 6.

From October 4 to 6, Line 1, 3 (including the northern line extension) and Line 5 will extend service for one hour, and the operation time of Line 2 and Line 7 will be extended by 1.5 hours (the last train arriving at Guangzhou South Railway Station will be 1:00 on the next day).

Furthermore, Line 2 and Line 7 (from Guangzhou South Railway Station) will run fast trains and only stop at some major stations to enable passengers to get off during the period of 0:30 to 1:00 on the next day from October 4 to 6. The specific stop arrangement is as follows:

The arrangement of extending service by half an hour from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Jiahewanggang on Sundays will be canceled on October 1 and 8.
