Update: 2023-10-18     Source: SilkRoadPost

Authorities in Guangzhou's Baiyun district recently revealed a plan to build Liupian Mountain (六片山), an undeveloped tourist spot famous for hiking adventure, into a forest park with comprehensive functions.

With a planned area of nearly 4,000 mu (about 267 hectares) and investment totaling 580 million yuan, the forest park is expected to be a resort for mountain and outdoor sports, leisure tour, sightseeing, natural education and wellness tourism.
According to the plan, in the short term, focus will be put on developing distinctive landscape, tourist services and infrastructure at the park, in order to improve its capacity of receiving visitors. Construction of a 2.5-kilometer-long forest trail, a flowery footpath and 330 mu multi-coloured forest landscape is underway and is anticipated to be completed and open to the public at the end of this month.

In the mid and long term, efforts will be made on entrance design, upgrade of greening landscape, pathways and observation pavilions, and the construction of rock landscape. An oxygen bar, a water playing area, a tourist station, cafes and amusement facilities will also be built in the park.

The forest coverage rate of the park will be more than 91.54%, and the annual average negative oxygen ions concentration is expected to reach 3,000 ions/cubic centimeter.
Liupian Mountain is featured with clear and consistent ridge lines, jagged cliffs, strange rocks, and beautiful reservoirs. It also has abundant seasonal forest vegetation and animals. These have made it an internet-famous spot for adventure-seekers and nature lovers.

Construction of the forest park will highlight ecological conservation, and will retain the charm of the wilderness as much as possible. It is set to become a demonstration project of Baiyun's ecological construction.
