On November 22, the Spanish National Tourism Board 2023 Football Carnival kicked off in Guangzhou. Nearly 40 people from the tourism fraternity and media outlets attended the event. Former Real Madrid player Sergio Sestelo was the coach in the carnival.

In the opening speech, Ana Lafuente, Counselor of the Tourism Office of the Consulate General of Spain in Guangzhou, said that Spain won the Women’s World Cup for the first time this year, making it the second country in the world to have both men’s and women’s World Cup champions.

Lafuente also invited participants to go to Spain for in-depth tours, in which people can watch football games in wonderful stadiums, enjoy delicious food and fantastic scenery, and immerse themselves in the football culture.

At present, South China has two direct flights to Spain, including Shenzhen-Barcelona (Shenzhen Airlines) and Hong Kong-Madrid (Cathay Pacific Airways Limited). By December, the air capacity between Spain and China will reach 28 direct flights per week and even more by 2024.

The Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona is the largest football stadium in Europe. Just like the Bernabeu Stadium, the Camp Nou has also begun a refurbishment program that is expected to be completed by 2026, raising its capacity from 99,000 to 105,000.
