On November 28, the 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural Industry Investment Conference kicked off in Guangzhou's Huangpu District.
Focusing on metaverse, digital creativity, and artificial intelligence, the conference gathered renowned investment institutions across China and cultural enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), igniting the integration of culture and finance for the advancement of the cultural industry.
As a highlight of the conference, a GBA cultural industry investment and financing alliance was established, comprising 23 premier entities spanning private equity, venture capital, securities, and state-owned cultural enterprises.
Meanwhile, the conference unveiled a report on investment trends in the GBA's cultural industry and a ranking list of the annual value of the AIGC cultural industry in the GBA. The conference also featured a series of activities, including promotional events and investment and financing matching sessions.
According to the conference, Guangdong will accelerate the development of advanced cultural manufacturing, creative design, digital creativity, news and information services, film and television, as well as publishing and printing. The province also plans to construct landmark projects such as the Lingnan Digital Creative Center and a GBA film harbor. It will annually promote 20 key projects, mobilizing over 100 billion RMB of social investment as well.
The cultural industry stands as one of Guangdong's pillar industries, with its added value leading the country for 19 consecutive years. In recent years, Guangdong has prioritized enhancing its content production capabilities, launching a series of artistic gems such as the film "Chinese Doctors", the drama "Deep Sea", and the dance drama "Wing Chun". These initiatives have propelled film and television, performing arts, publishing, creative design, and animation and gaming industries to maintain a prominent national position.
