Auto exports by enterprises in Guangzhou Customs District rise by 89.6 pct in 2023
Update: 2024-02-04     Source: GDToday

The enterprises in the Guangzhou Customs District witnessed an 89.6 percent year-on-year increase in automobile exports in 2023, with a total of over 110,000 vehicles, according to reports from Guangzhou Customs.

Customs brokers of GAC Aion New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. submitted an application for a certificate of origin for 448 Chinese new energy vehicles exported to Thailand to Panyu Customs under Guangzhou Customs via the China International Trade Single Window platform on January 24.

After checking the information, Panyu Customs officers helped companies complete certificate applications and self-printing procedures remotely and affix the "Made in China" label to vehicles exported to Thailand. Once the vehicles arrive in their destination country, the enterprises can enjoy the corresponding tariff reduction and other preferential customs clearance treatment through the declaration of the certificate of origin.

According to statistics, Panyu Customs handled  the certificate of origin related procedures for more than 3,500 exported new energy vehicles and supervised the export of various types of auto parts and accessories with a total value of about 850 million yuan in 2023.

Automobile manufacturing stands as a focal industry in Panyu District, Guangzhou. At present, this area has formed two major industrial belts of traditional energy vehicles and new energy vehicles, with vehicle manufacturers such as GAC Motor and GAC Aion as the leaders. They are supported by many industrial chain parts and components enterprises and have initially established an industry chain of intelligent Internet connections and new energy vehicles.

To bolster the global presence of local automobile brands, Panyu Customs has established "working groups for the automotive industry". The groups are dedicated to engaging with the upstream and downstream enterprises of the automotive industry chain in the customs area and conducting research to learn the process of overseas market expansion, after-sales service protection, and other needs of the enterprises.

Panyu Customs also carry out timely business publicity and accurately formulate the corresponding customs clearance and supervision services. They make all-out efforts to assist the indigenous automotive enterprises in expediting their international expansion.

Fu Qian, deputy director of the Government Service Department at Panyu Customs, emphasized that while promoting the global expansion of new energy vehicles, Panyu Customs has also guided enterprises to classify and integrate the declaration of similar products based on the characteristics of large volume, high frequency, and scattered types of auto maintenance and repair parts. The Customs helps vehicle companies quickly build and improve their overseas after-sales service system as well.
