Temporary traffic control in place for flower markets in Guangzhou
Update: 2024-02-06     Source: GDToday

The 2024 Spring Festival, or the Chinese New Year, will fall on February 10, marking the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.

Known as the "Flower City," Guangzhou, the capital city of southern China's Guangdong Province, has a long tradition of celebrating the Chinese New Year with flower markets that open around four days before the Spring Festival. Locals even say that the Chinese New Year does not truly begin until one has strolled through the "flower streets."

To ensure the safe and successful holding of the flower markets, traffic police in Guangzhou have been implementing traffic control measures in the following road sections. Vehicles have been prohibited from passing through these sections, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Road Traffic Safety.

In addition, from 00:00 a.m., January 29 to 06:00 a.m., February 10, small cars can drive in both directions on Guangzhou Qiyi Road (Zhongshan Road to Huifu Road), while other vehicles are required to drive in one direction from south to north.

Military vehicles, police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, and rescue vehicles performing urgent tasks are not subject to the above measures.
