Exploring parks and cultural halls to discover Chinese New Year flavor in local intangible cultural heritage

Recently, various cultural venues and scenic spots in Guangzhou have successively launched multiple festive activities showcasing the intangible cultural heritage of the Chinese New Year, creating a lively atmosphere.

The 2024 Spring Festival series event, titled "Chinese New Year in Intangible Cultural Heritage", was officially inaugurated in Guangzhou Yuexiu Park. On the day of the event, also the Chinese lunar Little New Year, the Park gathered 26 intangible cultural heritage projects from 8 cities in Guangdong Province, which attracted numerous local residents and tourists to appreciate and experience various intangible cultural heritage projects, including Foshan woodblock Chinese New Year painting, Foshan colored lanterns, olive carving, Guangcai porcelain, Shiwan ceramic arts, adding festive decorations to their homes.

In the Guangzhou Cultural & Arts Centerlocatedby the side of Haizhu Lake, the inaugural "Spring Festival Intangible Heritage Garden Party" was held. The event invited inheritors of intangible cultural heritage projects such as Guangdong embroidery, Lingnan pressed flower art, traditional incense-making techniques, and traditional craftsmanship of Cantonese-style mahogany palace lanterns, presenting new creations for the New Year.

The venue also featured booths showcasing the cooking techniques of festive foods, including Cantonese-style cured meats, Shumai (a type of dumpling), and Cantonese cuisine. These provided one-stop experiences, tasting opportunities, and the purchase of Chinese New Year goods, allowing local residents to fully savor the Chinese New Year flavor inGuangdongintangible cultural heritagewith every bite.
