Baiyun Airport: the world's largest single terminal to be completed by 2025

Terminal 3 (T3) of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is expected to have water supply and electricity ready?by the end of December 2024, according to the project authorities.

During the Chinese Spring Festival, the phase III expansion project of the airport was steadily progressed with thousands of workers on-site. 

By July 2025, the whole project will be completed. And by the end of December 2025, it will start operation. 

According to the project manager, 70 percent of the building materials of T3 are environmentally friendly. And multiple green technologies will be employed in the subsequent operation and management of the terminal. 

By 2025, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport will become the world's largest single-building airport terminal. And T3 is expected to become the country's leading green terminal. 

The annual passenger throughput of Baiyun Airport is projected to reach 120 million people, with a cargo throughput capacity of 3.8 million tons.

Apart from the new T3, the phase III expansion project also includes the construction of two runways, a comprehensive transportation center, and the East 4 and West 4 corridors of T2. 

With a total investment of 53.77 billion RMB, the project started construction in March 2023 and completed the entire reinforced concrete structure in December 2023. 

So far, the construction of the steel space frame has reached 65 percent completion, with an expected finish date by the end of March 2024. 

As one of the three major aviation hubs in China, Baiyun Airport boasts world-class terminal buildings and airline operation teams, with routes covering 219 destinations worldwide.
