The first phase of the 136th Canton Fair concluded on October 19. During this vibrant trade event, “Made in China” new quality products showcased the strength and growth momentum of the foreign trade industry, while many exquisite cultural products attracted foreign visitors to explore Guangzhou and Chinese culture.
Guangzhou's new quality productive forces take center stage
According to official data, Guangzhou's import and export scale reached 102.64 billion yuan in August, exceeding the 100 billion yuan mark in a month for the first time this year, and achieving positive growth for six consecutive months since March.
New quality productive forces enterprises are playing an essential role in the 136th Canton Fair, with 336 such enterprises from the Guangzhou trading group attended, showing an increase of 55 enterprises compared to the previous session.
The "new three" items of foreign trade (new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products) have become the highlights at the 136th Canton Fair. The first phase of the export exhibition featured over 3,600 companies in the fields of "new three", digital technologies and smart manufacturing, with export markets covering over 200 countries and regions. Humanoid robots, smart devices, and brain-computer interface products are particularly favored by overseas buyers.
Guangzhou showcases cultural charm to the world
At Canton Fair Complex Area D, Hall 19.1, the "Must-Buy" City Gift Expo — "Canton Store", has attracted many foreign visitors.
"In the past few days, many domestic and international guests have come here to purchase specialty drinks and portable handicrafts. This morning, several foreign guests showed great interest in the ceramic lion figurines and bought some to take home. Since some gift box products are not convenient to carry, many guests took photos of the sales QR codes, planning to place their orders online after returning home," a sales staff said.
During the Canton Fair period, a historical and cultural space titled "Yue, A Cantonese Way to Surpass" has opened to the public in the China Hotel, featuring historical photographs, valuable exhibits, interactive multimedia, and miniature display models that vividly showcase the hotel's history and its deep connection with the Canton Fair. It allows people to understand Guangzhou and its culture better. “After seeing this exhibition, I can't wait to have a bowl of Jook-sing noodles (bamboo-pressed noodles),” said a Canton Fair buyer from Brazil.
