The 102nd China Import and Export Fair (commonly known as the Canton Fair) opened today in Guangzhou and will run through October 30.
On October 14, the Ministry of Commerce unveiled a new logo for the fair. The design of the new logo is comprised of the Baoxiang Flower and a wheel. It has been selected by an expert panel from a large number of entries submitted by the public and professional designers.
The new logo features "Chinese red" as its standard color, representing brightness, fortune, auspiciousness and dignity. The six pedals of the flower give an impression of rotation and infinite expansion, symbolizing the status of the Canton Fair as a window on China's opening-up campaigns.
The logo was designed by Lan Chong, a teacher at the School of Art Design of Lanzhou Jiaotong University.
