A Guangzhou local nicknamed "Chongzi" created a clay work to boost the city's morale in the fight against the latest COVID-19 resurgence during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.
The clay work features people from all walks of life including medical staff, volunteers and international friends rowing a dragon boat in front of the city's landmark building Canton Tower. There is a flag with the Chinese character "yong" meaning braveness on the bow, and four zongzis, China's traditional snack for the Dragon Boat Festival, in the sky delivering good wishes for the festival.
According to the creator, all dragon boat races in the COVID-19 risk areas in Guangdong have been canceled, but Guangzhou is making full use of every minute to race against the COVID-19 virus during the holiday.
Chongzi hopes to convey the message that all the people in the city are bravely standing together to fight against the pandemic, and provide a boost to the city's morale.
