Tulips, the national flower of the Netherlands, are blooming in the Yuntai Garden of Guangzhou, Guangdong province to commemorate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between China and the Netherlands.

The Garden features over 100 thousand tulips of more than 20 varieties, interspersed with the Dutch Delftware patterns, which provides an immersive experience of Dutch culture. The feast of flowers will last until February 20.

According to Michiel Bierkens, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Guangzhou, this year also marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Guangzhou. Events featuring the exchanges of commerce, innovation, sports, culture and so on will be held in the coming months to celebrate the stable and healthy development of the bilateral relations.

Guangzhou, also known as the “flower city”, is the first stop of the exhibition. Nine other major cities in China will soon have the chance to witness the blooming tulips.

Yuntai Garden is the largest park of its type in China and is often known as the pearl of the “flower city” of Guangzhou. Its Friendship Garden is the epitome of Guangzhou’s diplomatic achievements, with 18 gifts and 6 species of friendship trees from 15 international sister cities and associations, including cities in New Zealand, Russia, Britain, Peru, Canada, Japan, Germany, Finland and the Republic of Korea.
