Nansha Wetland, located in the geometric center of the Pearl River Delta, is one of the important migration routes of birds.

Numerous waterfowl foraging shoals are preserved in the wetlands. Equipment such as water pumps are built in the shoal area to keep the water level controlled at 5 to 15 cm, which is suitable for waterfowl to stand and get food.

Guangzhou Zoo now has about 400 species of wild animals, of which 44 are listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In the past two years, it has successfully bred more than 1,000 wild animals such as sun bears, golden snub-nosed monkeys, and Hainan Eld's deers. A "sperm bank" has been established for breeding birds such as silver pheasant.
