Colors on Conghua's mountains change with a touch of orange-red appearing. In the Conghua district of Guangzhou, people are busy gathering persimmons and drying them for snacks these days. Many households in Conghua are involved in persimmon farming. Shangluo village (上罗村) and Guifeng village (桂峰村) are the main areas to produce persimmons, with persimmon trees covering a great number of mountains.
Persimmons attract many visitors to the two villages every year with their highly saturated "orange beauty". Visitors can use a long bamboo stick with a saw blade and a little bag on the end, about 5 to 6 meters in length, to pick the brightly colored persimmons on high branches. Or they can simply use a pair of scissors to harvest the lower ones.
Apart from fresh-picked persimmons in the villages, visitors can purchase dried persimmons, which are sweeter and softer than the fresh ones after exposure to the sun for two to three weeks. The dried persimmons from the two villages are welcome in markets, and are selling well across the country through online platforms.
After enjoying the fun of picking bright red persimmons, visitors are able to taste local food, climb Guifeng Mountain (桂峰山), or even have a bath in hot spring in nearby villages.
