Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone was awarded the title of "Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zone (Eco-Industrial Park)" by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment at the annual China Ecological Civilization Forum in Nanchang on Nov 19.
It was the first industrial park in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to receive this award during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, and was also one of the first parks to be named and awarded after the National Eco-Industrial Demonstration Park designation was upgraded to Eco-Civilization Demonstration Zone (Eco-Industrial Park).
Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone officially launched the work of creating a national eco-industrial demonstration park in 2008. To achieve this goal, enterprises are encouraged to adopt advanced clean production technologies and pollution control techniques to improve the overall technological level, as well as the clean industrial production level in the park.
At the same time, Nansha has continued to transform production techniques by emphasizing the building of green factories. It has emphasized four key points, energy and carbon emission management, air pollution source management, water resource management, as well as waste management, to create environmentally friendly "green projects" in the entire manufacturing chain.
Currently, Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone has initially formed an eco-industrial network, with the integrated development of the automobile manufacturing and electronic information industries as the mainstay, with eco-industrial collaborations among enterprises a common practice. Over the years, its practices to improve quality and increase efficiency have proven to be demonstratively effective.
