Capture spring blossoms in Guangzhou

Spring's arrival in Guangzhou heralds the blossoming of an array of flowers, turning the city into a canvas of color and light. Where to capture these enchanting flowers? Here is a flora map for you.

Kapok

March and April are the flowering period of the kapok flowers, the city flower of Guangzhou. As the gentle breeze of spring wafts through the air, the first batch of kapok flowers has blossomed and decorated the branches and roads red, attracting avian visitors seeking nectar.

Recommended viewing places: Lingyuan West Road (陵园西路), Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (中山纪念堂), Peasant Movement Institute (农讲所), etc.

Golden trumpet tree

The golden trumpet trees burst into bloom along the streets of Guangzhou in March, transforming the avenues into a sea of shimmering gold. These flowering trees imbue the city with a kaleidoscope of colors, beckoning residents to capture their beauty through their lenses.

Additionally, Guangzhou has recently launched a special bus route for admiring the golden trumpet tree blossoms. Passing through Huandao Road, Binjiang West Road, Tongfu West Road, and other sections, this route traverses the most splendid stretches of golden trumpet trees. People can search "赏花专线 (pinyin: shang hua zhuan xian)" on "广州如约巴士 (pinyin: guang zhou ru yue ba shi)" WeChat mini program to purchase tickets, or wait for the bus at stations such as Haizhu Chong Bridge North (海珠涌大桥北), Zhoutouzui Park Station (洲头咀公园站), Taigucang Wharf Station (太古仓码头站), and Gexin Road Station (革新路站).

Cherry blossoms

Recently, the cherry blossoms have peaked in Guangzhou, adding a touch of romance to the city. In areas such as Baomo Garden and its adjacent Nanyue Garden in Panyu District, cherry blossoms adorn the lakeshores and pavilions, while a grand Cherry Blossom Festival is set to open at Baomo Garden on March 9.

In addition, the 2024 Nansha Cherry Blossom Festival will kick off at Shiba Luohan Mountain (南沙十八罗汉山) in Nansha District of Guangzhou on March 9 and will be open until March 17.

The flowering season of the azaleas is expected to last until the end of March, so hurry up and come to capture this picturesque scene.

Rapeseed flower

With the arrival of spring, the rapeseed flowers in Guangzhou have recently burst into full bloom, offering a glistening golden ocean and the ambiance of spring. At the Waguyuan in Nansha District, Jingxia Village in Huangpu District, and similar locations, visitors can also take a mini-train through the rapeseed flower fields to experience the serenity of rural life.

Tulips

Underneath Baiyun Mountain, Yuntai Garden is currently adorned with a vast sea of colorful tulips, shimmering enchantingly under the sunlight. Paired with the Roman column and waterfall of the garden, the scene resembles a beautiful oil painting.

Bauhinia variegata

The flowers of Bauhinia variegata adorn Renmin Bei Road, Fuxuexi Street, and other streets in Guangzhou. These blossoms form pink and white corridors in the city and create a romantic spring vibe.

Bougainvillea blooms throughout the autumn, winter, and spring seasons. It comes in various colors, with purple being the most common. In Guangzhou, many streets, pedestrian bridges, and viaducts are always adorned with dozens of meters of purple "flower corridors".

Corn poppy

Strolling in Hongcheng Park in Tianhe District, you can see brightly colored corn poppy blossoms dotted around the park. With Canton Tower as the backdrop, the flowers sway in the breeze in the sunshine, creating a scene reminiscent of a Monet painting.
