Legal Tips | Don't ignore the visa stay period!

According to the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China and the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners: 

Foreigners with a stay period not exceeding 180 days (including 180 days) as specified in the visa shall leave China prior to the expiry of the prescribed duration of stay.

Foreigners whose stay or residence exceeds the duration specified in his or her visa, stay permit or residence permit shall be deemed to be residing in China illegally. 

Where the duration of stay needs to be extended, the visa holder shall file an application with the exit and entry administration of public security organ seven days prior to the expiry of the duration specified in the visa, and shall submit information of specific application matters in accordance with relevant requirements. The accumulated length of extension shall not exceed the original duration of stay specified in the visa.
