● Online Concert

Conductor Long Yu, Artistic Committee Chairman and Music Director of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra (GSO) will cooperate with young violinist Paloma Su from China's Hong Kong and pianist Serena Wang, who lives in America, online to play two pieces. They are Violin Concerto No. 2 in G Minor by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev, a famous Soviet composer and pianist, and Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor by Ludwig van Beethoven, a composer of the European Classical period.

The concert will also feature a meaningful Chinese piece named Liang Xiao (meaning a good night), which was created by Erhu master Liu Tianhua during New Year’s Eve in 1928, adapted by Yuan Zhi.

● Inside the Practice Room with Yo-Yo

On January 30, Yo-Yo Ma, Artistic Director of the previous four YMCG and famous cellist, will hold an online performance, entitled "Inside the Practice Room with Yo-Yo". To explain his own artistic philosophy, his performance will be divided into the following four parts:

▲ I was your age

▲ Asking Questions: Activating Imagination

▲ Dividing into Music

▲ Bringing it Forward

Meanwhile, those pieces Yo-Yo plays will cover French pianist Charles Camille Saint-Saëns's The Swan, the second chapter of Beethoven's The Six "Field" Symphony called A Small View of the Stream, as well as a Chinese piece called Yan Tou Yu (meaning rain on the eaves) by cooperating with Wu Tong, a Sheng player online (Sheng is a Chinese mouth-blown free reed instrument). Those three songs are totally diverse in style.
