An original drama entitled Zhong Nan Shan will have its premiere at Guangzhou Opera House on October 2 and 3, 2021.

The drama highlights a series of important moments of China's renowned respiratory disease expert Zhong Nanshan. It includes the stories of how he started to practice medicine, how he devoted himself to the prevention and treatment of chronic bronchitis, and how he joined the fight against SARS and COVID-19.

Zhong Nanshan is a leading pulmonologist and academic of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. During the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003, he helped the country control the epidemic with his expertise and transparency.
Around 17 years later, he again spearheaded the country's fight against the outbreak of COVID-19. He also led the compiling of diagnosis and treatment protocols for COVID-19 patients, which offered guidance for medical workers fighting the disease.
