As the fourth quarter of 2022 has started, the Guangzhou Opera House will present a wave of shows, ranging from new productions by local theaters to other outstanding performances across China.

These shows will kick off with Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theater's new work "Princess Wencheng", which premieres on October 11. It is based on the story of Princess Wencheng, who came from Chang'an (today's city of Xi'an) to marry a king of a dynasty in Tibet in ancient China, and brought the culture of the Han people to the southwestern Chinese region.

The opera features a cast with national first-class director Tong Weiwei, Jiang Zhaogao, a famous playwright and national first-class scriptwriter, as well as three actors who have won the Plum Performance Award, the most prominent opera award in China. According to Tong, the show features the artistic expression of dance, Chinese boxing, and modern drama. It also integrates orchestral music, music from the Tang Dynasty, Tibetan music, and Buddhist music as well, in a bid to showcase the national unity, prosperity, and culture in ancient China.

Here are some of the other hot shows.
