On October 25 and 26, the drama "Will" will hit the stage of the Guangzhou Opera House, which will lead the audience to explore the life story of Shakespeare in one night.

The play begins with the story of young William. At the age of five, he entered the theater at Stratford City Hall by accident, and became attached to the theater. He went to London to seek his theatrical dream and launched his career, which brought him fortune and fame. Then, in his later years, he returned to Stratford, his hometown, and stayed there until his death.

The play consists of a prologue, 21 scenes, and a final chapter, with four actors and actresses playing more than 30 roles, presenting the important events in Shakespeare's life and his works. Premiered in 2021, the play was warmly received by both audiences and critics.
"It is both the story of the past, Shakespeare's story, and the story of today, our own story," said Tian Xiaowei, the director of this drama. He believes that Shakespeare and theater professionals nowadays share the same passion for theater, and they face similar problems after graduation, such as looking for job opportunities and struggling between reality and dreams. "We see ourselves through this play," said Tian.
