Update: 2023-05-15     Source: GDToday

On May 11, the exhibition Salvador Dalí. Magia Y Realidad kicked off at the Guangzhou Library and will run untilJune 19. Reproductions of 31 masterpieces by the Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dalí from his adolescence to the end of his career are on display, through which audiences can appreciate the surrealist art in the 20th century.

As one of the most iconic Spanish painters of the 20th century, Dalí is renowned for his striking and bizarre images in his works. The exhibition presents his paintings from the collections of the Dalí Theatre-Museum, Salvador Dalí House-Museum, Gala Dalí Castle Púbol, as well as other institutions, revealing Dalí's explorations and innovations in painting techniques and artistic ideas.

Based on two paintings by Dalí, Le sentiment de vitesse (The Sense of Speed)and Nature Morte Vivante (Still Life-Fast Moving), the exhibition also features scenes for the public to photograph.

Eduardo Aznar Campos, Consul General of Spain in Guangzhou, believes that the exhibition is amazing and magical. "We are also very proud to have some of our pieces of art, although they are reproductions, here in Guangzhou," he said."This is a very festive occasion that shows the length and strength of our bilateral cooperation."

This exhibition is the 44th stop of the Trip Around the Worldseries of Guangzhou Library's Multiculture Library. According to Fang Jiazhong, director of the Guangzhou Library, through this series, the library has cooperated with many institutions around the world to hold exhibitions, presenting artworks of Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, as well as the collections of Plato Museum to Guangzhou residents.

"We hope that through collaboration with Guangzhou's sister cities, the Consulates General in Guangzhou and so on, the works of outstanding writers and artists can be exhibited in Guangzhou, so that residents can understand, observe and feel their artworks closely," said Fang.
