The 2023 Maritime Guangdong Young Director Support Program (Maritime Guangdong Program) initiated and hosted by the Yangcheng Evening News Group is making big moves once again! From December 22nd to 24th, the grand opening of the Maritime Guangdong Film Festival at Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), titled "Swim Into Infinity", will take place in Guangzhou. The event will showcase 10 short films supported by the Maritime Guangdong Program, along with four surprise screenings, three filmmaker salons, three consecutive nights of outdoor screenings and a film cultural market.

Theme: Swim Into Infinity

Name: Maritime Guangdong Film Festival at GBA

During this period, the opening ceremony of the Maritime Guangdong Film Festival will feature three short film sections, named "The Echoes of Sound", "The Southward Migration" and "The Gaze of Visitors". The event will screen 10 short films created by young directors as part of the 2023 Maritime Guangdong Program, as well as five special short films on Guangdong from non-local directors. The directors and key creators of the short films will be present for post-screening discussions, sharing fascinating stories and creative viewpoints with the audience.

In addition to the short film screenings, this event will also gather Guangdong's new-generation directors. The event aims to bring the audience an artistic experience that combines visual and auditory enjoyment with intellectual collisions through surprise screenings, filmmaker salons, and other activities.

It is reported that the series of events of the Maritime Guangdong Film Festival at GBA will run from December 2023 to January 2024, with Guangzhou as the main venue and multiple cities, universities, and art institutions in the GBA area serving as sub-venues. The event will organize film screenings, filmmaker salons, industry forums, and academic seminars. The sub-venues will cover cities such as Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, Shantou, Foshan, Jiangmen, and Qingyuan, while universities such as Jinan University and Shantou University will host various academic screening activities throughout the event.

The Maritime Guangdong Program focuses on the new creative forces in the GBA film industry, intending to present a fresh surge of the GBA cinematic power through the presence of young directors and audiences alike, and to build a humanistic GBA through the power of film.
