Update: 2024-03-11     Source: GDToday

A gala was held at the Guangzhou Cultural & Art Center on the evening of March 8 to mark the International Women's Day, kicking off the city's series of popular cultural activities at the grassroots level in 2024.

The cultural activities will be held both online and offline from now till November, including performances by the Guangzhou Song and Dance Theater at the Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Center, Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area, other scenic spots, communities, and campuses across the city.

Female role models from all walks of life were invited to watch the gala, enjoying songs, dances, crosstalk, and other folk-art performances.

Cai Wenfeng, a famous guzheng player, and the dancers of the Guangzhou Song and Dance Theater, entertain the audience with guzheng music and dance "Why Are Flowers So Red", admiring the passion and tenacity of women.

Liang Qiqi, principal dancer of the Guangzhou Song and Dance Theater, leads two women's group dances featuring the Nanyue Kingdom (204-111 BC) dancers and the Silk Road porcelain.

An excerpt from the dragon boat-themed dance drama "Loong" is staged at the gala.

Two tenors from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music sing the famous Italian classic "O Sole Mio" (My Sunshine).

Performers from the Guangzhou Cultural & Art Center stage folk art shows at the gala.
