Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden, alongside American baritone Thomas Hampson, will lead the prestigious New York Philharmonic Orchestra to perform at the Guangzhou Opera House on June 27 and 28.
This marks van Zweden's farewell tour as the music director of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, with Guangzhou being the tour's only stop in South China and the first stop in the country.
Van Zweden became one of the two first chairs of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at the age of 19, and has been music director of the New York Philharmonic since 2018. He has collaborated with many top orchestras such as the Paris Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic.
