The stage drama "War and Peace," directed by the "legendary European theater director" Rimas Tuminas, will make its South China premiere at the Guangzhou Opera House from August 29 to September 1. It is also the closing show of the 2024 Guangzhou Art Season.
The drama "War and Peace" is adapted from the literary masterpiece by Leo Tolstoy. In the nearly five-hour performance, it not only shows the rise and fall of a famous Russian family in the 19th century but also completely depicts the growth of the heroine Natasha from a lovely maiden to a woman with strength and braveness.
The play has received eight nominations for the "Golden Mask Award," the highest national theater award in Russia, and the "Special Jury Prize." The leading actors are famous, comprised of national artists of the Russian Federation, such as Lyudmila Maksakova and Irina Kupchenko. Among them, Natasha's actress, Ksenia Trestl from the Vakhtangov Theater, who was born in the 2000s, was nominated for the best actress of the Russian "Golden Mask Award" for her outstanding performance in "War and Peace."
