Flower Appreciation

Lying to the west of Yuexiu Park, it covers an area of 3.99 hectares, and was formerly known as Guangzhou Herbarium Garden. In 1962, it was officially named Orchid Nursery and became the first garden-themed park with orchid cultivation.

As one of the most elegant parks in Guangzhou's urban area, the Orchid Nursery proves an ideal place for tourists to relax themselves by appreciating orchids, drinking tea, and enjoying special pastries with various flowers as ingredients.

Besides, the blooming azaleas and Chinese redbuds amid the Green trees are particularly eye-catching. When you ramble near the Road Pavilion, in the Tongxin Hall, or in the Guoxiang Hall, the fragrant orchids will rid people of the noisiness of the city life.

Before the 1970s, the Orchid Nursery had always been a place to receive Chinese leaders and important forest guests visiting Guangzhou. Among the guest list are Chinese leaders Zude, Ye Jianying, Deng Xiaoping and VIPs like Nixon, Sihanoukville, Lee Kuan Yew, Tung Chee Hwa. Since 1976, the Orchid Nursery has been open to common tourists.
