Guangdong International Rowing Center is the only one among the 7 international rowing centers in China where a large-scale automatic scoring system has been installed. It is a rowing training base and the rowing and canoe/kayak (slalom and sprint) events of the 16th Asian Games and the 9th National Games were held here.
Located beside Liuxi River in Zhuliao Town of Baiyun District in Guangzhou, Guangdong International Rowing Center is the rowing training base of Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province and the training base of Guangdong rowing team and canoe/kayak (slalom and sprint) team. In the venue, there are competition center, press center, athlete apartment, training building, canteen, boat storehouse and gymnasium. Apart from that, there are also 2 plastic basketball courts, one cement basketball court, 4 plastic tennis courts and one track field with 400-meter plastic track..
With an area of 106 hectares and an investment of 250 million yuan, the rowing center owns a competition field of international standard with 2,500-meter long and 160-meter wide courses. Automatic starting equipment, electronic timing system and giant electronic screen are installed for the competition of rowing and canoe/kayak. The courses are connected to Liuxi River so that the athletes can conduct long-distance training on water.
