Recently, Nansha Wetland Park, the southern end of Guangzhou, has welcomed hundreds of thousands of migratory birds overwintering in the warmth of South China. The population of the migratory birds at the wetland now has accounted for more than half of the city's.
So far, over 185 species of migratory birds are reported visiting the Nansha Wetland, one of the flyways of the migrating birds, among which are 2 species of China's first-class protected birds — white-tailed eagle (scientific name: Haliaeetus albicilla) and black-faced spoonbill (scientific name: Platalea minor), 15 varieties of national second-class protected ones such as Eurasian spoonbill, common buzzard and black-winged kite, and 20 kinds of provincial protected birds.
