Guangzhou is a booming city with a strong economy and fast growth, which benefits the people's livelihood along the way. In recent years, the income of both urban and rural residents has been continuously growing, and local people's living standard has been considerably changed.In 2014, the per capita disposable income of urban residents rose 8.9% to 42,955 Yuan and the per capita disposable income of urban residents rose 10.3% (actually rose 7.7% due to the inflation) to 17,633 Yuan.
In 2014, the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents rose 8.7% to 33,385 Yuan and the per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents rose 10.1% to 12,868 Yuan. The Engel's coefficient in urban and rural area was 32.9% and 42.9% respectively; and the expenditure on education, culture, entertainment, service accounted for 12.8%, 10.9% of the total consumption expenditure in urban and rural area respectively. Besides, the per capita housing area was 60.1 square meters in rural area in 2014.
By the end of 2014, nearly 10.71 million people had the endowment insurance, up 42.8% year on year, among which 9.26 million people had the urban basic endowment insurance, up 53.5% year on year; 1.23 million people had the endowment insurance for urban and rural residents, down 0.4% year on year; 0.22 million people had the endowment insurance for the residents transformed from farmers, down 5.4% year on year.
In 2014, 0.58 million residents got medical aids, rocketing up 42.6 times year on year. 100,000 residents were given rural cooperative medical services. The social insurance fund had raised 79.7 billion Yuan, up 10.6%. By the end of 2014, the five-insurance had raised funds of 141.8 billion Yuan, up 13.9%.
